My
choreographic interest this year involves artistic study on how movement
expresses a “rocking”, swept way of existence/ as reference to Beckets’ play
Rockaby. This project has begun its travel since autumn of 2014, engaging
6dancers. At this point my focus will be on the retrogression we witness when
people wish to claim their ownership and power amongst others, and how this
leads to a repeated war and destruction game.
My
choreographic research engages with political actuality as it can be narrated
in texts from literature and theater plays.

Reflections from: a warm summer journey within
perceiving and re perceiving dance, movement, and performance as a process versus
performance as a result.
Days 1 and 2: Ana Sanchez-Colberg
Traces – how we trace a movement, how we see even our
own movement as a present dance of someone else.
Hoe we trace movement in space and how this engage
with space creates choreography.
A task I enjoyed a lot was when I improvised with
Maria and Marili. We had beautiful interaction remaining consistent to our
improvisational task.
Dance may be poetic through re engaging with its
substance in a nonphysical and nonmaterial way, but with the mental seek of a
movments sense…
Days 3 and 4: Androniki Marathaki
'A piece of newspaper, a stick, gold foil and some
stones'
Warm up engaging with playing, tasks of intense
physicality but through interweaving ways of exploration.
Blowing small pieces of paper, dancing with a small
piece stuck on my toe, re introducing me to an object and an object to me.
Sticks, golden fabric, newspapers and a new world
evolve through pure play with each “other”.
Jumps, runs, turns, levels, space, all re enforce an
unknown dance to its transcending us, physically, to new narratives.
…a beautiful detail… time duration was defined by an
hourglass..!
Days 5 and 6: Robert Clarke
Strong work… so many words come…
Empathy, For you, Sensing, Observe, Space, Engage,
Feelings (!), Touch,
Awareness…
Thank you Robert! for a nonstop motion, and also for
the important recall of our purpose to offer to an audience.
Days 7 and 8: Linda Birkedal
In Between: a
deep exploration of this term and its contexts.
In between may concern space and bodies.
In between may concern the diverse starting points of
our movement.
In between may be a feeling or a state before doing
and after the stimulus to do.
In between may be waiting.
In between may be now, between past and future.
In between may be the endless space between two
non-meeting lines.
In between may be the force between two magnets.
In between has been a great starting point for a deep
research, where I felt very creative in my movement and same time extremely
captivated by this one sense of in between: after what – what’s next; this
small or big in between of Now.
- It
has been an overwhelming experience. Next step is all this information to fuse
into studio research. I wish to explore all these elements within the frame of
Rocking movement and the Retrogression of humanity’s actions (need, love and
share that easily become mine, take, fight, own).
…and the journey has now begun!
